Well! what a fun way to begin the new year! Our airstream adventure really began today! We took James & Glenda to the airport at 6:30 this morning after spending two nights at Mrytle Beach State Park.
It was a blast having them & practicing our spanish. Glenda's English is so much better than our Spanish that she ended up doing most of the work! It will be great when we have a few more lessons behind us.
It seems really auspicious to begin this dream on the first day of a new year! The day was spent putzing around the house, walking Maggie, playing guitar & piano, with a couple of meals thrown in. I don't know how we manage to move guitars & keyboards back & forth from the bedroom to the living room but so far we are doing it with good humor. Bessie, the airstream, is small but if we can stay organized, I think it will work.
The park is beautiful & very wooded. 317 acres smack in the middle of the Mrytle Beach Strand! Unfortunately for all of the New Year's campers, two thirds of the park is closed for repairs & maintenance. The extremely rainy weather has not been kind to this part of the state. We are packed pretty tight in the part that is open. There is limited hiking but we have enjoyed walking the closed parts of the campground.
