Yesterday was a downpour! We spent most of our day on the phone, either with the Texas state park reservation system or ATT. Texas does not use the system the rest of the country uses (surprise, surprise) & boy, does it suck. The website was down for 3 days & no one ever answers the phone. Edward managed to last 1 hr & 14 mins on one call, to no avail. Some reservations can be made online, but Big Bend Ranch must be made on the phone. The route west is planned, we are just not certain how quickly to travel. Spring break is the first week in March so we may want to beat that. We have made alternate plans to stay in the national park campground (parking lot, no hookups!) &/or in the swankiest resort ever, Maverick RV park! Two extremes of the RV world. Hopefully, we can get Texas to answer the phone today. Edward & I were looking forward to boon docking!
Yesterday, ATT launched an unlimited data plan with a Direct TV bundle! Yahoo! We jumped on that! With literally nowhere to go, getting unlimited data became my mission. The first rep said we were not eligible because we had no house to have a receiver installed. That did not deter me. I have learned from Jamie to keep asking! The rep on the next call was sure we could use the remote satellite option. After several times on hold, he came back with a Direct TV number to call, thinking they could do it. That did not work either. Later in the afternoon as Edward languished on hold, I decided to see what an online chat would yield. That guy was awesome. We changed our billing address to Lathan’s to use his DirectTV account. In the midst of doing all that, I lost the chat window!!!! Yikkers! Thinking we had the answer, I gamely got back in the phone queue. I was so close, I was already picking out my movie! That data window crashed quickly when the rep said our NetGear Wi-Fi device was excluded! The plan was only for cell phones. Hmmm, would have been good to know that hours ago. I started in with the “boy, we have been ATT customers a long time, surely you can give me a better deal on data than what’s online” approach. After several minutes, she says, “I can’t do that, you’d have to speak to a specialist” Well, hot dog! After 2 minutes, he doubled our data for a very reasonable $30!!!!!!! We won the data lottery for sure! A good day’s work! So if you know any good movies……..
The cold front has brought clear sunny skies with it, so imagine we will explore the fort today. We are eager to stretch our legs & breathe some fresh air.
