The drive from our campsite through the national park was beautiful. We explored every turn off & dirt road & had a great time. There are a number of off road camping spots for those adventurers with tents or smaller rigs. The absence of hookups is more than offset by the remoteness & grandeur. The national park has three main ecosystems – the Rio Grande River, the Chisos Mountains, & the Chihuahuan Desert. All so different & beautiful in their unique ways.
The easy access across the river continues to intrigue us. The villagers from Boquillas obviously come over daily, to leave their gifts & collect their money. Edward was on a canyon trail, when a fellow began to serenade him from below. Think it spooked him a bit!
The three bears rambling through a roadside meadow was quite a treat. We did not expect to see wildlife at 4:00 & might not have if other cars had not pulled off. Over half of the panther sightings are from the road. Now, that would be awesome.
The area is enchanting & we are eager to explore it all! But it is huge & we decided to slow down. Two more weeks will give us plenty of time to explore & relax before we head east!
