Saturday found us more than a little stir crazy, so when the forecast offered clearing skies, we bolted out the door.
Asheville has a bustling 7 day a week farmer's market that we really enjoyed. Locally roasted coffee beans are always on our radar & Dynamite Roasting Co in Black Mountain did not disappoint. After restocking the fridge with local organic goodies & refueling with yummy soup, we headed to the NC Arboretum.
Wow! NC is loaded with gems & the Arboretum is 400 acres of beauty within the same experimental forest in which we are residing, The Bent Creek. A research arboretum was the brainchild of Frederick Olmstead who designed the outdoor world of the Biltmore Estate. It took 100 years but the General Assembly made good on his idea.
The Arboretum is a beautiful natural setting of meandering streams & forested coves complimented by gorgeous garden spaces & sculptures. The perfect antidote for cabin fever.
