Sunday was a gorgeous sunny day for our exciting tour of Dupont State Forest - led by the renowned hiker/trip organizer Anne Babb.
Dupont is one of her favorite hiking places, so who better to organize the day. All we had to do was show up with a picnic lunch! Easy!
Dupont is a 10,000 acre recreational forest with four major waterfalls, five lakes & 82 miles of trails! We won the outdoor lottery!!! Anne choose a four mile hike that enabled us to see three of the falls while maintaining an "easy" hike!
Our first fall was High Falls, 120 foot drop of solid granite. Very impressive! We continued on another 30 mins to the most beautiful of all, Triple Falls. You might recognize scenes from the Hunger Games & Last of the Mohicans. Really lovely spot to enjoy our lunch & catch some rays. Maggie was the only one who went wading. After lunch, it was on to Hooker Falls. There is a nice swimming hole there but no one ventured in.
We ended the day with a tour of nearby Camp Greenville & the chapel at Pretty Place. Edward was actually an Outstanding Camper here in 1961! That was a bit ago. Davis & Anne are great fun & we had a wonderful hiking with them. Hope to do it again down their way, soon!
