No pretty pictures, no historical factoids. Edward & I have been in Fayetteville since Saturday caring for my sweet sister Avery. Kaitlyn was able to get word to us, through the park ranger, that there was a medical emergency. Deb Obermeier, Avery's angelic caregiver, had taken Avery to the ER because she was vomiting blood. Never a good thing!
Ave has stomach ulcers that have been bleeding a while! Hospital stays are never fun & it is a particular challenge for Avery since she can no longer speak. I tried to be with her 24/7 but after the first night, I realized I had to at least sleep at home or I'd be a grumpy helper. Edward has been great support, keeping me company & bringing us food.
Ave was released on Monday & we thought we had her settled in to a good routine. Edward & I were literally hitching up to head north when Deb called. It had started all over again! Back to the ER & back in the hospital! Poor baby, surviving two admissions through the ER in four days is grueling. Today we are hoping the bleeding can be controlled through an endoscopic procedure. Surgery is the last option. Keep her in your prayers & hearts.
