While Maggie was playing ball at the edge of the campground, we noticed hikers walking through an area that had big gates, restricted signs & lots of barbed wire. Obviously, we had to investigate. A lovely gate in the chain link fence allowed pedestrian access that we had not seen. Hugh hydroelectric dam project! As Edward said, the government doesn’t build these parks without getting something out of it. Really cool road on top of the dam made for a nice explore. In the middle of the dam, we entered Florida. I knew it was close, but had no idea we could walk there! The Corp has lots of buildings around here. Not sure what they are doing, but nice campground. Fellow campers saw a 15 ft. alligator near a trail we want to walk. Hope he is somewhere else today. I think they can run 35 mph & I am pretty sure I can’t. Maybe we'll stick to the road.
Campers are a friendly group & Edward & I are doing our best to be outgoing. We have learned of several good parks from chatting & it is fun to connect briefly. Everyone comments on Maggie, asking how old she is! Poor girl, no woman wants to hear that she is showing her age. Guess she will have to get her muzzled dyed!
Quiet day at home, watching football & playing music. Edward cooked some mean burgers for dinner. He has not lost his touch as the master griller! The small Coleman is amazing.
Love to all! Hey, someone send a comment so I can see if it works! Thanks.
