We made it! After eight fun & sometimes crazy weeks in Hampstead, we are back on the road, recapturing the freedom of being gypsies. Matthew tried to mess with the wedding plans but we regrouped & had the ceremony a day early & the honeymooners started a day late! But it was beautiful & wonderful; a fantastic time.
The mountains of SC, NC, & GA, as well as central Florida will be our home for the fall. We are enjoying the southern Appalachians & will head back to Hampstead for the Christmas holidays!
The life of meandering suits us so well. We fell right back into the feeling of relaxation & contentment that first day. Table Rock State Park, SC, is lovely & just beginning to transition into fall. Our campsite is wooded & uncrowded just the way we like, very quiet & peaceful.
Our first hike was an easy/moderate two mile loop following Carrick Creek. A number of small waterfalls & creek crossings kept us interested & cool. Maggie was the only one that went swimming! She surely enjoyed it! Walking at sea-level has not kept us in adequate shape for mountain hikes, even in the foothills. Even two miles leaves us lounging for the rest of the day!
Several hours were spent under the awning, watching the leaves drift lazily down to earth. We did manage to rouse ourselves enough to cook a nice Mexican meal!
