This was a lazy camp for us. We really enjoyed the quality of this forest. The trees were large & their canopy was heavy enough to keep the under-story down. Being able to look deeply into the forest made it a bit primal & surreal. Hobbits would be happy here.
The creek gurgling below added to our pleasure. The sound & presence of water is always uplifting.
The crowd from Veteran's Day holiday weekend gave the camp a festive atmosphere. Nice to see so many young families camping. We had two other Airstreamers on our loop! Pretty fun to swap stories & tips.
The lake walk was lovely (& easy), with the added bonus of a spur trail down to the falls. And yes! there was water! The park service manages the lake flow with a cold water drain from the bottom. The cold water is released into Wolf Creek keeping the trout & the trout fisherman happy.
The area had several attractions that we'll have to pick up on our next trip through. We still love GA parks!
