We are really enjoying all that central Florida has to offer. Silver Springs State Park is one of the best. I imagine we will return here.
Our days have been filled with walks in the woods, some by the river & another through a grassy prairie area. Edward was a sport & kayaked us around on the Silver River & the Fort King Paddle Trail. Really beautiful & an up close & personal view of wildlife. The pictures fall far short; the late afternoon sun was hard to avoid & the iphone zoom just didn’t get it. But serene & peaceful it was & floating by cormorants close enough to touch was awesome!
The buildings along the river are the remains of the tourist recreation of the old Fort King from the Seminole war days. The state of Florida has let several of the more touristy items slide away, but the old fort buildings were unexpected & fun to us.
“Thanksgiving for Two” was easy & pleasant. We had our favorite sides & skipped the turkey. Another bird saved! Weekend campers booted us out of our state park & into the private park domain. Scary!!!! We have managed to position ourselves with shade, a view, & a bit of space. So, success! An added bonus is luscious soft grass for my tootsies! Grounding au naturale.
