Sylvan Lake State Park is considered CO’s most beautiful park & we certainly agree. We have been secluded for four days & it has been very relaxing. Surrounded by mountains, beautiful conifers & a sparkling lake, we have not ventured far from camp. We have done a couple of hikes so have gotten a little exercise. Most of our days have been spent catching up on Spanish lessons, reading, art & music. There is no cell service & no WIFI so we are out of touch with the rest of the world. We don’t even know the weather until it rolls in. Yesterday a 40+ mile per hour gust came out of nowhere & tore off our neighbor’s awning. Edward’s diligence paid off; we had put ours away just 5 minutes before! A few minutes later, the sun was out, the storm was gone. Today we scouted out even more remote White River Forest campgrounds. Next year perhaps? Tomorrow, back to civilization. St. Vrain State Park is between Denver & Fort Collins and they will have all the amenities. Living without power & water has not been taxing, but give me the Internet!
